Executive Director

Hunter Scott Safrit, a proud Rowan County native, serves as the Executive Director of the Salisbury Symphony. With a deep-rooted passion for music and community, Hunter has dedicated his career to enriching the cultural fabric of Salisbury, North Carolina. He holds an undergraduate degree in Music Education from Catawba College and a Bachelor of Music Arts (BMA) from Appalachian State University, underscoring his commitment to the arts.

Hunter's leadership at the Salisbury Symphony has been transformative. Under his guidance, the Symphony has become a beacon of accessibility and excellence, with innovative initiatives such as capping ticket prices at $15 for adults and $5 for those under 21, alongside $1 balcony seats. His vision ensures that high-quality music remains within reach for everyone in the community. Moreover, Hunter has been instrumental in developing tuition-based programs that cost only $3.50 per hour, supported by two in-house scholarships that fully waive tuition, making music education more attainable.

In addition to his role at the Symphony, Hunter is the owner of Schoeppner Industries, LLC, a multidisciplinary small business that embodies his diverse interests and entrepreneurial spirit. Schoeppner Industries focuses on sustainable farming practices, event services, and premium carpentry/building services, reflecting a commitment to community development and sustainability.

Under this umbrella, Quail & Coop specializes in providing fresh, locally-sourced produce and eggs through innovative and environmentally friendly farming techniques. Bar None Events is an event hosts answer to having quality bar services and all the foot work around securing permits from intimate gatherings to large-scale celebrations. Builds and Bonds Carpentry offers custom carpentry and building services, delivering bespoke solutions for residential and commercial projects with traditional craftsmanship and modern techniques.

Safrit's multifaceted career reflects his dedication to enhancing the quality of life in his community. Through his work with the Salisbury Symphony and Schoeppner Industries, he continues to inspire and make a tangible difference in the lives of those around him. His innovative approach, combined with a deep-seated passion for sustainability and the arts, positions him as a dynamic leader and visionary in Rowan County and beyond.
